There are some very motivated collectors on eBay who always seem to go all in when it comes to World Jamboree issues that truly are "rare" and "vintage". This typically means items from the 1937 and 1947 Jamboree since you almost never see items from the 1920s events. This month I've spotted three auctions that closed on eBay with outstanding results. Check out the best WJ auctions from the last thirty days.
If you watch eBay you might have noticed that over time it has trended towards more fixed priced listings at the expense of auctions. One of the neat things about auctions is that some sellers are willing to start them very low and just let the market determine the price. Some of these listings began for as low as 1 penny but most were less then $10. All of these auctions ended for more than $400. Looks like the sellers made a wise decision.
This trio of Order of the Arrow meeting/conclave patches ended last week on eBay with surprising results. What many people want to know is how did a 1986 issue sell for over $300. I don't know for sure but one would have to guess its an award patch or some otherwise very limited issue. During the 1980s there were several of these sorta issues in my back yard - the Dixie Fellowship with many of them now worth hundreds.
Last week on eBay these were some of the more unusual items that appeared in the Hot Finds Newsletter. While they don't have the pedigree of an early cut-edge OA patch or the demand that you see for insignia these odd little auctions really surprised me. Just to give you an idea - none of the three sold for less than $200!
This post was originally supposed to publish in early March but I kinda forgot about it until just now. I know these links are still active and the medals are still sweet so take a look to see what these auctions finished at.
For OA collectors one of the more unique types of memorabilia is neckerchiefs. While modern day Scouts (at least where I live) don't wear neckerchiefs back in the day they were very important. Each of these classic issues sold for over $200 in auctions that ended last week. The bidding on the Mowogo N/C was particularly active with three bidders weighing in at the end to put it in their collection.
