If didn't see these old Cali camp patches when they were live auctions then you can catch up on them here. I sorta brag about how rabid my local collectors are about their old felt camp patches. It's good to see that out on the west coast there are some people who really appreciate their felts too!
Camp Raven Knob may be arguably the most highly collected Scout camp in the United States. I swear whenever I see something from that Old Hickory Council, North Carolina camp pop up on eBay it gets lots of bids and goes for big bucks. I don't even mean really old stuff - things from the 80s will even bring good money if they have the words Raven Knob on them. The other Boy Scout neckerchief and camp badge picks in this blog post are also worth a closer look. The old Skanondo Lodge 64 neckerchief from the Hudson-Delaware Council in Middletown, NY did was a gem. A little history lesson here on the sweet felt patch below, Camp Coffman is located just outside of Fertigs in Clarion County, Pennsylvania. It got its start as a BSA camp in 1923 but was eventually abandoned by the Scouts in 1978 and is now a church camp.
There are fewer items in the hobby that people are more passionate about then their home camp. I know in my area people count early camp patches as the crown jewels of their collections. For this reason its neat to see when others fill in big needs on eBay by winning a bidding war for a classic Boy Scout camp patch. These five auctions below are recent examples of closed auctions on eBay. The Camp Raven Knob patches from the Old Hickory Council of North Carolina are always highly sought after. The Northern Tier patch doesn't sit as well with these oldies but hey you should see what it sold for!
I have many Scouting friends that really collect old camp patches to the point of making it a cult. They have disdain for CSPs with their modern SAPs and FOS issues. When it comes to OA they turn their nose up at the 1 per person gold border delegate issues being issued these days. No they get excited when they see old felt chenille camp patches. Turns out several nice items sold recently on eBay that fit into that category. Check out these highlight reel auctions.
